Microsphere technology
SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING
fillers for an array of
materials and applications

Oil and Gas
Our lightweight microspheres create cements with superior rheology, compressive strength and chemical resistance.

Building Materials
These microspheres lower density, improve strength, plus increase fire and moisture resistance in advanced building materials.

Automotive and EV
Our special microspheres allow for the creation of engineered polymers for better fuel economy.

Aerospace
We help the aerospace industry achieve greater fuel economy—and higher aircraft payloads—with lightweight microsphere engineered materials.

Marine
Microspheres help create ruggedized, lightweight materials that increase salt and water resistance while reducing overall weight.

Health and Beauty
RK Spec’s spherical, variable density microspheres come from a natural mineral source to replace microplastics in beauty products.

Our Company
In response to the growing needs of the building materials, thermoplastics, and oil and gas industries, RK Spec was created to design modern solutions to address weight, strength, insulation and sound attenuation. Envisioned by scientists and engineers who saw the opportunity to create unique, earth-friendly solutions to age-old needs in these industries.
By using naturally created microspheres, we make products that save fuel, last longer, and create a better living environment. These microspheres can be manufactured with no CO2 footprint and solve the microplastic problem that is prevalent in other applications.

WHAT ARE RK ULTRASPHERES?
Ultraspheres are hollow microspheres made from expanded volcanic glass.
An inexpensive, readily available resource found around the world.
Lightweight
Because they’re hollow, these microspheres are naturally lightweight.
Crush Strength
Their spherical shapes create an inherently high crush strength.
Tunable Density
Microspheres can be tuned to specific gravity ranges between 0.1 to 1.0.
Color
Colors from ultrawhite to light gray available.
Range of Sizes
Multiple size ranges between 5-500 µm.
Spherical
Spherical particles are free flowing and have excellent workability.
